Hi there! We are James and Ella, a local couple from Blackburn bringing you Bar Nearby: a friendly, safe neighbourhood bar on the outskirts of Box Hill.

We have both worked in hospitality for many years across Melbourne and various spots around the world. Ella grew up in Box Hill, while James hails from hard-to-pronounce Worcestershire in the UK.

The vision for Bar Nearby is uncomplicated: good wine, quality cocktails, and cold beers. The vibe we want to create is inspired by the feel and accessibility of the local pubs of James’ hometown. It is a space where locals can meet and feel at home, whether it be for a Negroni, a glass of Albariño, or a schooner of Carlton.
